Lent 2014 – Day 16: Doxology in Ajam Kurd

Today we celebrated the raising of the Holy Cross and prayed that the cross will grant us the power to endure our difficulties and to grant us the peace we long for.

I’m really behind on my blogging this time. Time just seems to fly by so quickly … I still have hope though 🙂

In the past I have discussed the unique flavor Arabic music adds to Byzantine chant, here is another beautiful example.

Following are excerpts from the Great Doxology in Ajam Kurd composed by Protopsaltis Mitri El Murr and performed on tour by the Choir of Saint Romanos the Melodist from Beirut, Lebanon, directed by Fr. Romanos Joubran and the Choir of the Archdiocese School of Byzantine Music of the Greek Orthodox Church of New York.
